Once a garage and workshop, this space has been extensively transformed into a small house for year-round living, conserving the original foundation and structure. The latter is left exposed in a full height ceiling throughout building. For this project all work has been carried out independently as both builder and architect.

Transformation in Mora
Residential – Södermanland, Sweden
A project following the wish for a unique kitchen tailored to the clients’ passion for food, with one side designed in stainless steel for cooking and the other forming a colourful storage section. Based on IKEA modules, in combination with careful choices in materials, colours and custom designs, a tailored kitchen design has been realised on a modest budget. The rest of the apartment renovation includes both restored and new floors, and a new colour- / material palette.

The design of this rural dwelling has largely been shaped by ad hoc responses to the unique qualities of the site, most notably an old pear tree, and to a historical typology that in similar ways expresses a connection to the landscape. The plan and the recessed facade reinterpret the Swedish vernacular Högloftsstuga, emphasizing the axis to the outdoor space already defined by the pear tree.

Residential – Montenero d'Orcia, Tuscany, Italy
Near the legendary mountain Monte Labbro in Italy, beneath a large, wild-growing pear tree overlooking the Tuscan hills and the valley below, lie the ruins of two former shepherds' shelters that once served as simple overnight refuges. The landowner wishes to bring these ruins back to life by transforming them into new shelters – so-called bivacchi – for hikers and local residents who now visit the rural landscape. In this early stage of the project, the attention is directed towards the site's original function and history while adapting it to the needs of contemporary users.
